Bishkek, March 9, 2021. / Kabar /. More than 9 thousand militiamen will ensure the public order during Kyrgyzstan’s local council elections to be held on Apr. 11, 2021. This became known during an online meeting of Kyrgyz Interior Minister Ulan Niyazbekov with heads of the Internal Affairs units on ensuring law and order and security during the elections to the local councils.
According to the Central Election Commission (CEC) of the republic, 2,273 precinct election commissions have been formed, the press service of Kyrgyzstan’s Interior Ministry said.
Over 9 thousand militiamen will be involved in protection of public order in this electoral process. About 4 thousand police officers will be deployed at polling stations.
At present, the employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the CEC are working in the coordinating group for fair and transparent elections.
In Kyrgyzstan, elections to representative bodies of 448 settlements, including 28 town and 420 villages (including Bishkek and Osh cities), are scheduled on Apr. 11, 2021.
