Bishkek, Nov. 6, 2024 . / Kabar / . Minister of Natural Resources, Environment and Technical Supervision of Kyrgyzstan Meder Mashiev held a meeting with U.S. Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Leslie Viguerie.
The conversation touched upon climate change issues and the participation of both countries in the upcoming Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP-29), which will be held in Baku, on Nov. 11-22, the Natural Resources Ministry said.
Minister Mashiev emphasized that this year Kyrgyzstan will present its pavilion at COP-29 for the first time, providing an opportunity to more widely demonstrate the country's achievements and meet with international partners.
Ambassador Leslie Viguerie noted the position of the United States at the meeting, emphasizing that environmental and climate change issues are becoming increasingly important at the global level.
The parties expressed their mutual readiness to strengthen cooperation and shared their plans and positions within the framework of the upcoming event.
