Kyrgyzstan to promote energy efficient technologies in tourism

Bishkek, May 17, 2021. / Kabar /. Kyrgyzstan will promote energy efficient technologies in tourism, the Unison Group said.

This will become possible through the implementation of a project to promote energy and resource efficiency in the tourism industry of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The new initiative was presented on May 15 at the “I am Nomad” international exhibition ITF-2021 in Cholpon-Ata town, Issyk-Kul Oblast.

Unison Group President Nurzat Abdyrasulova told about the goals and objectives of the project at the forum entitled "Kyrgyzstan - Land of Tourism".

The project is implemented by a consortium of partner organizations - AUCA, Unison Group, Technopolis Group (Belgium), Collaborating Centre on Sustainable Consumption and Production - CSCP (Germany), funded by the European Union within the SWITCH-Asia program.

The main goal of the project is to promote energy security and development of Kyrgyzstan through the development of sustainable production and consumption patterns. In other words, it is the introduction of energy and resource efficiency among small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the tourism sector of Kyrgyzstan.

"Our main audience is small and medium-sized businesses. We focus on the hospitality sector (hotels, restaurants and cafes), of which we assume that 300 companies, including about 50 hotels, 150 restaurants, 100 cafes in all 7 regions and 2 cities, will receive the necessary knowledge on the implementation of energy efficiency and resource conservation through trainings, assess their knowledge and skills, also receiving direct consultation and access to online materials,” the president of the company added.

"We will prepare analytical materials, work in the field of voluntary certification, also trainings and seminars will be organized to transfer knowledge. As a result, Kyrgyz companies will be financed through local financial institutions to implement these practices in their enterprises," Abdyrasulova said.

The project will contribute greatly to promoting energy and resource conservation and preserving Kyrgyzstan's environment.
