Kyrgyzstan to provide Internet to its most remote village

Osh, March 10, 2021 . / Kabar /. In the spring of 2021, the most remote village of Kyrgyzstan, Zardaly, will be connected to the Internet.

At present, the first stage of the project has begun. Engineers have left for a detailed study of the area of Zardaly village, after which the equipment will be ordered.

The second stage will include the installation of equipment and training of local residents in digital skills. Solar panels to power the radio repeaters of the Internet will be installed in the vicinity of Zardaly and through them the Internet will be conducted to the village.

Zardaly is the most remote village in Kyrgyzstan. There is no electricity, no radio, no TV, and no Internet. It is impossible to get there by car and it takes several hours to climb the mountain paths.

The village is located high in the mountains nearby the border of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. It is home to about 1000 people. There are no public institutions in the village except for a primary school built in 2010.

With EC support, the Kyrgyz Internet Society delivered an Ilim Box digital library, a large solar panel to power, a smartphone for children and lamps for street lighting to Zardaly.
