Bishkek, Aug. 27, 2021 / Kabar /. Kyrgyzstan will receive another 500 thousand doses of the Chinese Sinopharm vaccine as humanitarian aid and more than 40 thousand doses within the framework of the COVAX program.
According to the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers, this agreement was reached at a bilateral meeting between Deputy Chairwoman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic Zhyldyz Bakashova and Chinese Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Du Dewen.
During the conversation, Zhyldyz Bakashova expressed gratitude to the government of the People's Republic of China, the country's embassy in Kyrgyzstan for their strong support in countering the spread of coronavirus infection and expressed readiness to make efforts to strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
In turn, Chinese Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Du Dewen congratulated the Kyrgyz people on the upcoming jubilee holiday - the 30th anniversary of the country's independence, and stressed that Kyrgyz-Chinese cooperation is always at a high level, and traditional friendship is strengthening and continuing to develop, despite the situation with the COVID-19 pandemic.
Du Dewen said that the Chinese government has decided to provide Kyrgyzstan with humanitarian aid in the form of a Chinese-made Sinopharm vaccine against COVID-19 in the amount of 500 thousand doses, free of charge.
In addition, the Chinese side expressed its readiness to provide more than 40 thousand doses of vaccine under the COVAX program.
The Kyrgyz Cabinet deputy chairwoman expressed her gratitude to the Chinese side and noted the timeliness of this support.
“I am convinced that the humanitarian assistance provided by the Chinese government is another vivid evidence of the relations of friendship and good neighborliness between our countries and will allow us to strengthen measures to counter the common threat,” said Zhyldyz Bakashova.
Note that earlier, 300 thousand doses of Chinese-made Sinopharm vaccines arrived in Kyrgyzstan free of charge as humanitarian aid from the Government of the People's Republic of China.
