Bishkek, Nov. 3, 2021 . / Kabar /. Kyrgyzstan will receive about 200 freezers with ultra-cold chain to store vaccines through UNICEF, chief specialist of the Republican Center for Immunoprophylaxis of the Kyrgyz Health Ministry Azim Kyrgyzbayev told during a briefing.
He said that earlier the republic received a Pfizer vaccine, which must be stored at -80 degrees.
"In this regard, since the beginning of the year the World Health Organization together with UNICEF delivered and installed in Kyrgyzstan 4 freezers with ultra-cold chain for storing Pfizer vaccines, as well as special consumables for vaccination.
In addition, with the support of UNICEF, the medical staff has been trained in the proper use of the equipment. In addition, under the COVAX initiative, UNICEF is currently procuring around 200 units of cold storage equipment for vaccines," Kyrgyzbayev added.
The specialist also pointed out that the vaccine can be stored at National level warehouses at -70, -80 degrees Celsius for 6 to 9 months, and at regional level warehouses at -15, -25 degrees Celsius. In turn, the vaccine will be stored at +2 +8 degrees Celsius in district-level warehouses and temporary vaccination sites.
