The Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan is expected to supply 1 million 250 thousand doses of the Chinese-made Sinopharm vaccine at the end of this week for the purpose of operational work on vaccination of the population, Deputy Chairwoman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the country Zhyldyz Bakashova told at a briefing.
She said that 1 million 100 thousand doses were purchased at the expense of the republican budget, 150 thousand doses were provided by the Chinese side at no cost.
“In addition, the issue of purchasing an additional batch of this vaccine in the same amount is currently being worked out,” she said.
She also noted that according to the plan, it is necessary to vaccinate 70% of the population or 2 million 187 thousand 417 people, which include priority groups of citizens in the amount of 1 million 312 thousand 450 people:
- employees of health systems, education, internal affairs, border, customs services, etc.;
- citizens with a high risk of developing severe forms of various diseases, elderly people aged 60+;
- socially vulnerable groups of the population.
