Kyrgyzstan to start vaccination with Russian Sputnik V vaccine in near future

Bishkek, April 22, 2021. / Kabar /. The vaccination of Kyrgyzstan’s population with the Sputnik V vaccine to prevent coronavirus infection will begin in the near future.

Kyrgyzstan received 20 thousand doses of the Russian Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine on Thursday.

The vaccine was delivered within the framework of the agreements reached during the visit of President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov to Russia on Feb. 24-25 this year.

According to the press service of the Kyrgyz government, First Vice Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Artem Novikov, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Kyrgyz Republic Nikolai Udovichenko and Minister of Health and Social Development Alymkadyr Beishenaliev took part in the handover ceremony.

“The agreement on the supply of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine was reached at the highest level during the earlier visit of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic to the Russian Federation. Part of the cargo provided by the Russian side is on a humanitarian basis. This is a very big sign of trust, cooperation, alliance and strategic partnership that exist between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Russian Federation. The Kyrgyz side expresses gratitude to the leadership of the Russian Federation for the prompt resolution of the issue, despite the large number of orders around the world and the campaign to vaccinate the population in the Russian Federation,” Artem Novikov said.

Minister of Health and Social Development Alymkadyr Beishenaliev expressed hope that by June of this year the situation with the production of vaccines in the Russian Federation will improve and more vaccines will be supplied to the republic according to a new schedule for the population within the framework of a strategic partnership and on a humanitarian basis.

The Russian ambassador noted that it took some time to form the supply of a batch of vaccines to the republic.

“I am convinced that as the production of the Sputnik V vaccine increases, the volume of supplies will expand and the country will be able to meet the next autumn period in full readiness,” the ambassador said.
