Bishkek, June 16, 2022. /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan is stepping up efforts to develop the electric car market, the press service of the republic’s Ministry of Economy and Commerce said Thursday.

Thus, as part of the implementation of strategic directions of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), the development of low-emission transport in the country (electric vehicle), as well as the implementation of the action plan of the Cabinet of Ministers until 2026, a working meeting was held with representatives from relevant ministries and departments, chaired by Deputy Minister Veronika Isaeva.

During the meeting, issues of stimulating the use of vehicles with electric motors and the creation of charging infrastructure in Kyrgyzstan were discussed.

In particular, it was noted that the electric car is the locomotive of the "green" economy of Kyrgyzstan, given the problem of ecology in the republic.

"Taking into account the lack of significant reserves of hydrocarbons and gas in Kyrgyzstan and the country's almost complete dependence on energy imports, the focus on green transport and progressive transition to widespread use of electric cars is a strategic goal," the report said.

As a result of the meeting, it was decided to consolidate all information and work done by ministries, agencies and the Mayor's Office of Bishkek, and to intensify work on implementing the action plan to create conditions for the development of electric cars in the Kyrgyz Republic.
