Kyrgyzstan to temporarily close schools if five or more coronavirus cases identified

Bishkek, Jan. 25, 2022 . / Kabar / . Schools will now temporarily work online if five or more cases of coronavirus infection are identified. The respective orders were approved on Jan. 20 by Kyrgyzstan’s Ministries of Education and Health.

Earlier, according to the orders of the two ministries from 2021, educational institutions were closed for quarantine if two or more cases of COVID-19 infection were detected.

"Every day we receive an emergency notification for each infected person. After processing the information - in which school, in which class the case is registered - we find out when the infected teacher and/or student was last in school, with whom they had contact. Taking this into account, we set the start date of quarantine, which generally lasts for 14 days. If the infected are registered in one class - the class is closed, if the school - the whole school switches to online education,” Ainagul Ryskulbekova, the Deputy Director of the Center for State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance of Bishkek said.

The decision to move to a distance learning format is made jointly.
