Kyrgyzstan toughens punishment for crimes against sexual inviolability of children

Bishkek, May 23, 2024. / Kabar/. President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov signed the Law "On Amendments to Some Legislative Acts of the Kyrgyz Republic (Criminal Code, Criminal Procedure Code)".

The law was adopted by the Jogorku Kenesh on April 11, 2024.

The Law amends the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, according to which life imprisonment may be imposed on men who have reached the age of sixty at the time of committing a crime, who committed a crime against sexual inviolability and sexual freedom of a child.

The Law also amends the Criminal Procedure Code of the Kyrgyz Republic to provide that the court shall pronounce a guilty verdict with the imposition of punishment for a crime against sexual inviolability and sexual freedom of a child despite the presence of a serious illness that prevents serving the sentence.
