Kyrgyzstan, Turkey intend to strengthen and expand military-technical cooperation

Bishkek, Nov. 4, 2020. /Kabar/. Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Kyrgyzstan Taalaibek Omuraliyev met on Wednesday with Turkish Ambassador to the Kyrgyz Republic Chengiz Kamil Firat.

According to the press service of the General Staff, at the very beginning of the meeting Taalaibek Omuraliyev expressed his condolences to the Turkish ambassador over human casualties and serious destructions as a result of earthquake and tsunami in Izmir Province.

The parties then moved on to discussing further prospects for bilateral military and military-technical cooperation between the defense agencies of the two countries.

General Staff Chief Omuraliyev thanked for the effective material and technical assistance provided by Turkey to the Armed Forces of Kyrgyzstan to equip with weapons, military equipment, rear and medical supplies, as well as for cooperation in training military personnel.

In his turn, Ambassador Chengiz Kamil Firat noted that Turkey is ready to further strengthen and expand the Kyrgyz-Turkish relations in the military and military-technical areas.

After the meeting, an official ceremony of reception and transfer of military products in the form of clothing, mining equipment and automotive equipment for the Kyrgyz Armed Forces was held.

Earlier, in September 2020, in the framework of implementation of the Agreement between the Kyrgyz, Turkish Governments on military financial cooperation in 2015 and 2016, the Turkish side delivered the first batch of military equipment.
