Bishkek, Feb. 11, 2021. / Kabar /. The Grand National Assembly of Turkey (Parliament) ratified an Agreement between the Governments of Kyrgyzstan and Turkey on the opening, joint management and transfer of the Bishkek Kyrgyz-Turkish Friendship State Hospital, as well as obtaining by citizens of Kyrgyzstan education in Turkey in the field of medicine and medical specialties, the press service of the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry said.
After the signing by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan a Law of the Republic of Turkey on ratification the Agreement and the entry into force of this document, the hospital will be equipped with the necessary medical equipment for its further full functioning.
Under the Agreement, the Turkish side will provide the opportunity to train annually 20 Kyrgyz doctors in Turkey, as well as support for the development of a training program focused on medical education and training of medical specialties conducted in Kyrgyzstan.
The above agreement was signed on Sept. 1, 2018 in Bishkek.
On May 28, 2019, president of Kyrgyzstan signed the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic on ratification this Agreement.
The construction of the modern clinic with a grant from Turkey began with the coordination of TIKA in June 2016 and was completed in November 2017.
The hospital is designed for 72 beds (including 21 beds in the intensive care unit). During the peak of the coronavirus pandemic in 2020, the hospital was temporarily opened to admit and treat patients with coronavirus infection.
