Kyrgyzstan, UN Office of Counter-Terrorism discuss cooperation issues

Bishkek, March 14, 2022. / Kabar /. Permanent Representative of Kyrgyzstan to the United Nations Aida Kasymalieva met with UN Under-Secretary-General and Head of the UN Counter-Terrorism Office Vladimir Voronkov, the press service of the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry reported Monday.

During the meeting, the sides discussed issues of further cooperation of the Kyrgyz Republic with the UN Counter-Terrorism Office and the implementation of project and program activities.

Aida Kasymalieva and Vladimir Voronkov noted with satisfaction the adoption of the updated Joint Action Plan for Central Asia on the implementation of the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy, which promotes the adoption of preventive measures in countering terrorism and extremism in the region.

The permanent representative of Kyrgyzstan noted that the republic highly appreciates the work of the UN Counter-Terrorism Office Regional Coordinator in Central Asia stationed in Bishkek, and in this regard, considers it important to ensure the continued presence of a representative of the UN Counter-Terrorism Office in the region.

In addition, the parties exchanged views on topical issues of regional cooperation.
