Bishkek, June 15, 2021 . / Kabar / . Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Ruslan Kazakbaev received on Tuesday Head of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Programme Office in Kyrgyzstan Andrey Seleznev.
During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on further expansion of project and program cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and UNODC, the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry’s press service said.
In particular, Kazakbaev and Seleznev discussed approaches to joint work on attracting donors to implement new projects on combating organized crime, drug trafficking, terrorism and border protection.
The UNODC representative informed the minister about the UNODC project on the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in the activities of law enforcement agencies of the Kyrgyz Republic.
For his part, Kazakbaev, noting that the UAV project demonstrates great potential on a wide range of priority issues for Kyrgyzstan, indicated support and readiness to implement the project.
The sides also agreed to continue working together to promote the opening of the UAV Operator Training Center in Kyrgyzstan.
At the end of the meeting, the foreign minister and the head of the UNODC Programme Office debated plans to strengthen mutual cooperation.
In particular, an active participation of the Kyrgyz Republic in the activities of UNODC and its decision-making bodies, the need to further expand the project portfolio of UNODC and the organization of an official visit of the UNODC leadership to Kyrgyzstan was noted.
