Bishkek, June 25, 2020. /Kabar/. A meeting of Kyrgyz and Uzbek delegations is taking place in Kyrgyzstan’s Batken Oblast, the press service of the State Commission on Religious Affairs reported.
A similar meeting will be held on June 26 in Fergana Oblast, Uzbekistan.
The meeting also includes a workshop on strengthening good-neighbourly relations, harmony and tolerance between representatives of state bodies, civil society and the clergy of the two countries.
The purpose of the meeting is to discuss topical issues in the religious sphere, preservation of stability in society, strengthening of interethnic and interfaith harmony, as well as raising literacy of religious leaders and civil society in the process of building a platform for interstate dialogue.
The event is attended by Director of State Commission on Religious Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Zaiyrbek Ergeshov, Head of the Spiritual Board of Muslims of the republic, Mufti Maksatbek Toktomoshev, Chairman of the Committee on Religious Affairs under the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan Abdugafur Akhmedov and Head of the Uzbek Spiritual Administration of Muslims, Mufti Usmankhon Alimov.
Sanitary and epidemiological requirements were met at the event.
