Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan intend to develop tourism potential in border areas

Within the framework of tourism development in the border zones of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, it is planned to restore the mountaineering camp Dugoba, as well as to jointly use the direction Kadamjai - Shakhimardan, Head of Fergana Region administration of Uzbekistan Khairullo Bozorov said, Uzbekistan 24 TV channel reported.

The delegation of the region visited Kyrgyzstan and identified new plans and projects for cooperation between entrepreneurs of the two countries.

"In partnership we will strengthen and develop tourism. We have great resources for this in Shakhimardan. We will jointly use the direction Kadamjai - Shahimardan. Besides, the Dugoba mountaineering camp used to be very popular. We want to restore it together," Bozorov emphasized.

Dugoba mountain camp is located near Shakhimardan, an exclave of Uzbekistan in Kyrgyzstan, and near the town of Kadamjai in Batken Oblast. The facility is surrounded by juniper forests and rock and snow peaks, among which stand out the peaks of Akhunbaeva (5200 m), Mothers (5010 m), Frunze (4550 m) and others.

Established in 1982 on the territory of Uch-Korgon forestry, the alpine camp was transferred to the Uzbek SSR for long-term use. In 1997 the camp was returned to Kyrgyzstan. Now there are several recreation areas on the territory of the camp.
