Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan sign roadmap for co-op in agriculture and food supply

Bishkek, March 17, 2021 . / Kabar /. The Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources and Regional Development of Kyrgyzstan and the Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan signed a Plan of Practical Measures (Road Map) on cooperation in agriculture and food supply.

The Kyrgyz Government’s press service reported that the document was signed within the framework of Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov’s start visit to Uzbekistan on March 11-12, 2021.

The Roadmap includes issues on the supply of agricultural products, including potatoes, seeds, testing, registration and admission to the territory of the two countries of new varieties of cereals and other crops, training students in area of livestock in Uzbek higher education institutions, as well as cooperation on the basis of research institutes.

In addition, the Uzbek side expressed its readiness to provide the Kyrgyz Republic with 10,000 seedlings of fruit trees, 1,000 tons of winter wheat seeds and 500 tons of cotton seeds.

The sides also discussed possibility of construction of 1000 square meters greenhouse, export of meat and live animals, attraction of investments into joint enterprises in the sphere of meat processing.

Also, a meeting was held with the leadership of Uzkimyosanoat JSC, in which an agreement was reached on a daily and uninterrupted supply of mineral fertilizers to the Kyrgyz Republic in the amount of 800-1000 tons.
