Bishkek, March 16, 2021. / Kabar /. The Ministry of Economy and Finance of Kyrgyzstan and the State Customs Committee of Uzbekistan signed an agreement on cooperation in combating smuggling and violations of customs legislation.
The Kyrgyz Government’s press service reported that this document was signed during a state visit of Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov to Uzbekistan on March 11-12, 2021.
The document was signed in order to effectively implement the Agreement between the Governments of the two countries on cooperation in customs matters from Sept. 27, 2000, as well as to improve the effectiveness of cooperation between the parties to combat smuggling and violations of customs laws.
In order to prevent, detect, suppress and investigate smuggling and violations of customs laws, the countries will cooperate primarily in the area of illicit trafficking in weapons, ammunition, explosives, narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and their precursors.
Besides, under this Agreement, the sides will establish a joint working group, with the identification of contact persons for the operational solution of current and urgent tasks in the fight against smuggling and violations of customs laws, as well as exchange of information.
