Bishkek, Feb. 26, 2021. / Kabar /. Kyrgyzstan will continue the course on preserving the status of the Russian language, President Sadyr Zhaparov said in an interview with Rossiyskaya Gazeta following his first foreign visit to Russia held on Feb. 24-25.
Zhaparov reminded that Kyrgyzstan is one of few countries of the former Soviet Union where the status of Russian language is officially fixed in the Constitution and the laws of the country.
The head of state noted that in the framework of cultural and humanitarian cooperation projects for the study of the Russian language are being implemented between Kyrgyzstan and Russia.
In addition, a humanitarian project is being implemented between the two countries on the activities of Russian teachers in the general educational organizations of Kyrgyzstan.
As part of the project, 30 Russian teachers are working in the general educational organizations of Kyrgyzstan’s Osh city. Currently, the responsible agencies are considering the issue of increasing the number of teachers from Russia to be sent to the regions of the country.
"All of the above is a confirmation of the great attention to the development of the Russian language in our country. In this vein, I want to assure that Kyrgyzstan will continue the course on preserving the status of the Russian language so that the Russian-speaking population permanently residing in our country could fully satisfy its spiritual and social needs," President Zhaparov noted.
