Bishkek, June 13, 2019. /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan's kok-boru team won the Chyngyz Aitmatov Cup at the international tournament in Russia, the press service of the State Agency for Youth Affairs, Physical Culture and Sports reported.
Competition, dedicated to the cross year of the Russian Federation and the Kyrgyz Republic, were held in Sergiyev Posad city, Moscow Oblast and teams from Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Russia took part in it.
Players from Kyrgyzstan in the semifinal beat the home team, and reached the final with a score of 17:4. In the battle for first place Kyrgyzstan won Tajik team - 7:1.
The winners were awarded the Cup and a car.
Buzkashi is a Central Asian sport in which horse-mounted players attempt to place a goat or calf carcass in a goal. Similar games are known as ulak tartysh (kok boru) in Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan and as kökbörü and gökbörü in Turkey, where it is played mainly by communities originally from Central Asia.
