Bishkek, Dec.10, 2024. /Kabar/. Bishkek hosted on Tuesday a meeting between the National Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan and the World Bank mission.
The meeting was chaired by Head of the Statistical Committee Baktybek Kudaibergenov, and the WB mission was represented by WB Lead Economist in the Poverty and Equity Global Practice Ambar Narayan.
In the course of the meeting, the sides discussed key areas of cooperation between the National Statistical Committee and the World Bank. The main attention was paid to the following issues:
- Improvement of the methodology for assessing poverty and well-being of the population, which will make it possible to assess the current situation more accurately and develop effective support measures.
- Introduction of new tools to analyze the digital economy, reflecting the rapidly growing role of digital technologies in the country's economy.
- Improvement of the Sanarip Aimak data collection system to improve the quality and timeliness of statistical information collection.
The interim results of the “Modernization of tax administration and statistical system” project and measures to strengthen the work in this direction were also discussed.
In his speech, Chairman of the National Statistical Committee Baktybek Kudaibergenov noted the importance of sustainable cooperation with the World Bank in the development of statistical infrastructure of the country, emphasizing that the work done jointly with the Bank contributes to a significant improvement of the national statistical system for the production of quality, timely official data.
In turn, the representatives of the World Bank noted the important role of statistics in making good management decisions and preparing strategic plans.
Ambar Narayan expressed willingness to continue to support the National Statistical Committee in the implementation of planned projects, emphasizing the importance of further cooperation to improve statistics for sustainable socio-economic development of the Kyrgyz Republic.
