Kyrgyzstani athletes won 109 medals in int’l competitions in 2020

Bishkek, Jan. 15, 2021. /Kabar/. In 2020, Kyrgyzstani athletes have earned 109 medals in international competitions, the press service of the country’s State Agency for Youth Affairs, Physical Culture and Sports reported on Friday.

20 mass sports events and 98 training camps were organized within Kyrgyzstan.

In 61 international competitions, domestic athletes have won 109 medals: 27 gold, 31 silver and 51 bronze.

The most important international sporting events:

- The Asian Boxing Championships, from Feb. 29 to March 13, 2020 in Amman, Jordan;

- The Asian Wrestling Championships, Feb. 16-24, 2020 in New Delhi, India;

- An Individual World Cup, Dec. 12-18 in Belgrade (Serbia);

- The World Sambo Championship, Nov. 3-9, 2020 in Novi Sad (Serbia);

- The World Belt Wrestling Championship, Dec. 11-13, 2020 in Kazan (Russian Federation);

- The World Sambo Cup in memory of Kharlampiev, Dec. 17-20, 2020 in Moscow (Russian Federation).

Besides, 159 mass sport events with participation of 14 895 people were held in regions of the republic in 2020.
