Kyrgyzstanis take part in international craft fair in India

Bishkek, Feb. 20, 2023 / Kabar/. A delegation from the Kyrgyz Republic took part in the international festival-fair of traditional types of crafts "Surajkund Mela" in the Indian city of Faridabad, the state of Haryana from February 3 to February 19, 2023, the press service of the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry reported.

This year, the SCO countries acted as partners of the event, and the northeastern states of India Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura were selected as thematic states.

Kyrgyzstan was represented by 34 people from among the artisans and creative teams "Ak-Shoola", "Datkayim" and "Kyz-Kerbez" from different parts of the country, presenting domestic products, national dances and folk instruments, as well as the culture of the Kyrgyz people through traditional clothing and souvenirs .

“Kyrgyz pavilions at the festival gathered a large number of visitors and were very popular, arousing interest and delight with environmentally friendly agricultural products, the variety and color of handicrafts and national clothes,” the Foreign Ministry said.

At the closing ceremony, Kyrgyz artists were awarded a special award from the Surajkund Mela festival for participating in the ceremonial contingent of countries.

Surazhkund Mela is a stylized fair, where a variety of handicrafts from Indian states and foreign countries are presented, which annually attracts thousands of participants and is the largest handicraft fair in the world.

The Festival-Fair has been regularly organized since 1981 by the Department of Tourism of the Haryana State Government with the assistance of the Ministries of the Central Government (Tourism, Textiles, Foreign Affairs and Culture).
