Bishkek, Dec. 20, 2020. /Kabar/. As part of his working trip to south of Kyrgyzstan, Acting President of the republic and Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh Talant Mamytov inspected the construction works at Madaniyat - Dzhalal-Abad road section, the press service of the Kyrgyz president reported on Sunday.
According to Minister of Transport and Roads Bakyt Berdaliyev, the project includes construction of 67 km of second category roads, as well as 181 pipes and 9 bridges.
In accordance with the contract, upon completion of construction work, the road will have the following technical parameters:
- 4 lanes in populated areas and 2 lanes outside populated areas;
- installation of sidewalks, lighting and drainage gutters in the settlements;
- reconstruction of the old and construction of new bus stops;
- planting new trees.
During 2020, it was planned to complete 78% of the excavation work, lay an asphalt concrete pavement with a length of 15 km and install drainage pipes along the road with a length of 1 km.
“At the moment, all the planned volume of work has been accomplished,” Minister Berdaliyev noted.
The acting president emphasized the exceptional importance of transport corridors for the country, because Kyrgyzstan is a mountainous country, about 90% of whose territory lies at a height of over 1500 meters above sea level, so the main type of transport arteries are roads.
"Strategic highways connect all regions of the country and are sections of a road corridor between a number of foreign countries, making a significant contribution to Kyrgyzstan's economic development and serving the livelihoods of millions of people," the head of state said.
Mamytov noted the construction of the Madaniyat-Dzhalal-Abad section is part of the Bishkek-Osh highway reconstruction project, which in turn is part of one of the major Central Asian Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC-3) projects to improve transport corridors.
