Bishkek, Sept.18, 2019. /Kabar/. On Sept. 20, at 15:00, the Botanical Garden named after Gareyev will host the first climate festival as part of the Climate for Life campaign, the press service of the Bishkek Mayor’s Office said.
The festival will become a symbol of the beginning of positive changes in the field of green economy and safe climate in Kyrgyzstan.
Four "thermometers" have been installed in Bishkek as part of the project, which show how the average annual temperature has changed since 1960 and what increase is expected if no action is taken.
At the festival, members of the Green Alliance for Sustainable Development, which includes more than 30 business communities and civil society organizations, working in the field of environmental protection, will hold a series of events to mobilize Kyrgyz citizens.
An exhibition of young artists and photographers of the country entitled “2030 - 11 years to prevent a climate crisis”, which includes presentations of experts in the field of ecology, will take place.
A global week of climate action around the world will be held on Sept. 20-27. Residents of 150 countries will take to the streets of their cities in defense of the environment.
