Kyrgyzstan’s CEC should call repeat parliamentary elections within two weeks

Bishkek, Oct. 6, 2020. /Kabar/. The Central Commission for Elections and Referendum (CEC) of the Kyrgyz Republic should call repeat elections of deputies to the Jogorku Kenesh within two weeks, Deputy Chairman of the CEC Abdyzhapar Bekmatov told Kabar Agency.

He specified that the election term is reduced by one third. That is, if earlier the CEC was to hold elections within 90 days, now the figures have been reduced to 60 days.

Today, Oct. 6 the CEC officially recognized invalid results of parliamentary elections of Kyrgyzstan held Oct. 4.

In total, 16 political parties took part in the elections. According to CEC data, 4 parties were leading. The losing parties organized protest actions demanding to annul the results of elections.
