Bishkek, Jan.10, 2020. /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan’s Deputy Prime Minister Jenish Razakov held phone conversation with his Tajik counterpart Azim Ibrohim, the press service of the Kyrgyz Government said Friday.
During the talk the sides stressed the importance of holding a set of measures to prevent the escalation of the situation, as well as any provocation after the incidents in Batken Oblast.
The two deputy PMs stressed the importance of taking mutual measures to reduce tension in the border areas.
Razakov and Ibrohim instructed the working groups of government delegations on delimitation and demarcation of Kyrgyz-Tajik state border to hold another meeting in the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic in January 2020.
The parties also agreed to conduct a joint comprehensive investigation of the incident.
Deputy Prime Minister Jenish Razakov coordinates the negotiation process between the relevant state bodies, heads of oblasts of the two countries on the settlement of the situation.
Kyrgyzstan’s Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Almaz Orozaliyev, First Deputy Chairman of the State Border Service of the Kyrgyz Republic Abdikarim Alimbayev are on the ground.
Awareness raising activities among the population of the border regions are being carried out on both sides.
On Jan. 10, 2020 at 1 a.m., unknown citizens of Tajikistan threw stones at the cars of two Kyrgyz citizens on the Osh-Batken-Isfana highway.
At 2:40 a.m. shots were fired at the section of the Kok-Tash border post in the Dakhma area from the Tajik human settlements, which forced the Kyrgyz side to begin evacuating women and children.
The shots were stopped at 8 a.m. According to official data, the situation at the station is now relatively stable.
