Kyrgyzstan’s deputy PM leaves for oblast where shootout occurred with Tajik servicemen

Bishkek, May 9, 2020. /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan’s Deputy Prime Minister Akram Madumarov on a military transport plane of the Kyrgyz Armed Forces has left for Batken Oblast on behalf of the country's leadership, the Government press service said.

He will visit soldiers at the hospital injured in the incident.

Deputy PM Madumarov will also hold an operative meeting with law enforcement agencies and local authorities in connection with an incident involving the use of firearms on the Kyrgyz-Tajik section of the state border, occurred on May 8 at 6:30 p.m.

Conflict at Kyrgyz-Tajik state border was provoked by Tajik servicemen, who unexpectedly opened group fire (according to verified data) towards Kyrgyz border guards and citizens, the press service of the State Border Service of Kyrgyzstan said.

Kyrgyzstan's border representatives for Batken Oblast held meeting with border representatives of Tajikistan's Isfara city to stabilize the situation at this section of the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border.

During the shootout, three servicemen from the Kyrgyz State Border Service of have been wounded to varying degrees, they are receiving the necessary medical care.
