Kyrgyzstan's economic growth results exceeded expected results: ministry

Bishkek, May 18, 2022. /Kabar/. The results of socio-economic development of Kyrgyzstan for January-April 2022 show positive growth rates, First Deputy Minister of Economy and Commerce Choro Seyitov said during a press conference at Kabar News Agency.

He noted that the rise is ensured by an increase in the growth rate of services and industries.

“Thus, for this period the GDP amounted to KGS 203 billion and real growth rate amounted to 105.4%. Taking into account the current geopolitical and geo-economic situation, which affects Kyrgyzstan, these growth rates are very optimistic. We expected the situation to be a little different, but nevertheless the economy shows confident growth today," the deputy economy minister said.

Seyitov added that sectors of the economy are as follows: output in agriculture increased by 2.2%, construction - 2.9%, services - 3.6%, industry - 11.1%.

"In January-April 2022, industrial enterprises produced goods to the amount of KGS 116.0 billion, production volume increased by 10.3% compared to the corresponding period of 2021. Excluding enterprises developing the Kumtor deposit – KGS 76.5 billion, the index of physical volume amounted to 102.4%," the official noted.

The representative of the Kyrgyz Economy Ministry stressed that growth in industry was provided by increasing the production of petroleum products (24.3%), wood and paper products, printing activities (25.8%), pharmaceutical products (12.3%), base metals and fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment (32.0%), food (including drinks) and tobacco products (10.1%), minerals by 2.9%.
