About RusHydro. RusHydro has not officially notified the Kyrgyz side of its intention to sell a share of the Upper Naryn cascade of hydropower plants (HPPs).
Deputy General Director of Electric Stations OJSC, member of the General Directorate Ulan Orozoyev said that RusHydro demands from the Kyrgyz authorities to return $ 37 million invested in the project.
“We offered to conduct an international audit. Only after that the Kyrgyz side will compensate. Today, RusHydro is against such an audit and refrains from conducting it and asked to simply compensate their costs and return the money invested, ”said Orozoyev.
Local investors. 70% of investors in the construction of the Silk Way industrial park in Kyrgyzstan are local businessmen, and the remaining 30% are foreign entrepreneurs.
Adilet Kubanychbekov, General Director of Silk Way Industrial Park LLC during the solemn ceremony of laying the park complex capsule said that “this will be the only textile cluster in Central Asia. The main object of the park is the exhibition center, where all fabrics, accessories, equipment will come and our manufacturers can receive leasing for 3 months on the basis of a contract with China and Turkey. This will serve as an impetus for the development of the local textile industry,”said Kubanychbekov.
Salary for parents. From November 2018, Kyrgyzstan plans to pay wages to parents caring for children with disabilities.
Deputy Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Altynai Omurbekova said that, the salary will be about 5 thousand soms (about $ 73). At the same time, the salary will be allocated for the care of 6,000 disabled children. In total, there are 29.9 thousand children with disabilities in the country.
Business believed. The construction of an industrial and logistics park is a clear indication that the business has believed in Kyrgyzstan, Prime Minister Mukhammedkalyi Abylgaziyev said during the ceremony of laying a capsule at the construction site of the Silk Way industrial park. The project is implemented within the framework of the execution of the Program for the development of textile and clothing production, adopted by the government.
Kubanychbekov, General Director of Silk Way Industrial Park LLC said that 112 specialized factories for the production of clothing, textiles and footwear are planned to be built in the park.
Abylgaziyev expressed that the beginning of the construction of the largest industrial-logistic park in the region, which will be located on 70 hectares and will create more than 35 thousand jobs.
Money for a road. The Asian Development Bank’s (ADB) Board of Directors has approved a total of $78 million to complete the rehabilitation of a road that connects two major transport corridors linking the land-locked country to international markets.
The new loan supplements financing to an existing ADB-supported project to improve regional connectivity, mobility, and economic activity in the Kyrgyz Republic by improving regional transport corridors around the country.
The additional assistance, composed of a $68.5 million loan and a $9.5 million grant from the Asian Development Fund, will improve two road sections on the North–South Alternate Corridor, namely Balychy–km marker 43 and Kochkor–Epkin, totaling 68 kilometers (km), to provide a faster, alternative route between the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Corridors 1 and 3.
Potatoes. Kyrgyzstan has started to supply potatoes to Uzbekistan.
Representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Kyrgyz Republic and the State Inspectorate for Plant Quarantine of Uzbekistan held a meeting in the middle of October in Tashkent regarding the export of potatoes from Kyrgyzstan. In the course of the agreement, the Uzbek side provided a list of 17 companies that are allowed to import potatoes.
Then a contract was signed between entrepreneurs of Issyk-Kul oblast and Namangan Universal Savdo Invest LLC for the supply of 2,000 tons of potatoes. To date, more than 66 tons of fruit has been shipped from Issyk-Kul oblast to Uzbekistan.
Popular bank cards. The use of bank cards is becoming popular in Kyrgyzstan.
By the end of 2017, there were 2 million payment cards in circulation. According to data of the National Bank, this is more than 3 times compared with 2013.
There are 1.4 thousand ATMs currently in Kyrgyzstan, the number of which increased by 1.7 times compared to 2013, and also there are 8.2 thousand payment terminals.
Updated forecast. In 2019, industry growth is projected at 3.2%, and in 2020 at 5.1%, reads the draft law on the republican budget for 2018-2020.
It is specified that earlier industry growth was projected at 5.3% in 2019, 8.7% in 2020.
In industry without Kumtor growth in 2019–2020 is projected at 8.8%, 5.9%, respectively, against the approved 6.2% and 7.8%.
In 2019-2020, the agriculture is expected to slow down to 2.7%, 3.0%, respectively, against the previously approved growth of 3.0%, 3.0%, respectively. In animal husbandry, growth is expected to be at the level of 2.7% and 2.8%, respectively, against the previously approved growth of 2.9% and 3.0%, respectively.
