Bishkek, July 26, 2021 . / Kabar / . The investigative service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kyrgyzstan is investigating the pre-trial proceedings on the mass disorder on Oct. 9, 2020 in the Kyrgyz capital city of Bishkek.
According to the press service of the Internal Ministry, supporters of various political parties and their leaders gathered on Oct. 9 with demands and appeals to return supporters of other political parties and their leaders to the legal field.
A disagreement arose between the supporters, which turned into a mass riot with the use of firearms.
On Oct. 9, 2020, pre-trial proceedings on this fact were registered in the Unified Register of Crimes and Misdemeanors automated information system of the Bishkek City Department of Internal Affairs for the crime under Mass Riots article of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Thus, on July 9, 2021, former President of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambyaev was given a notice of suspicion of committing a crime under the above-mentioned article.
At present, investigative actions and operational measures are being carried out.
After the parliamentary elections in Kyrgyzstan held on Oct. 4 some political parties, who lost the elections, organized protests on Oct. 5 demanding to annul the election results. As a result of clashes between police and protesters 1 (man, 19) died, over 1000 people injured.
The Central Election Commission of the republic annulled on Oct. 6 the results of the elections.
On Oct. 15, 2020 Sooronbay Jeenbekov resigned amid ongoing protests to step down.
