Kyrgyzstan's foreign trade turnover decreased by 1.5% since beginning of year

Bishkek, Apr. 11, 2020. /Kabar/. According to preliminary data, in January-February 2020 Kyrgyzstan's foreign trade turnover amounted to $ 931.4 million and decreased by 1.5% compared to the same period of last year.

At the same time, export supplies increased by 20.3% and amounted to $310.6 million, while import revenues, on the contrary, decreased by 9.7% and amounted to $620.8 million.

The increase of export deliveries in January-February 2020 was due to the growth of export of gold by 47.5 %, the share of which in the total volume of export deliveries of the republic in comparison with corresponding period of 2019 increased from 32.6 % to 40 %.

Supplies of fruits and nuts increased by 2.7 times, knitted clothing by 2 times, milk and dairy products by 1.7 times, crude oil by 1.6 times, hard coal by 43.4 percent, plastics and its products by 33.6 percent, ores and concentrates of precious metals by 25.3 percent, cotton fibers by 20.8 percent, glass and its products by 14.7 percent.

In addition, there was a 5.3-fold decrease in exports of textile clothing, footwear, waste and copper scrap by 3.1 times, cement by 2.8 times, tobacco and tobacco products by 2.2 times, and vegetables by 6.7 %.

Decrease in volumes of imports in comparison with January-February 2019 is caused by decrease in import of coal in 8.3 times, leather goods - in 2.5 times, cereals - in 2.1 times, footwear - in 1.8 times, of clothing and its accessories - by 39.9%, fertilizers - by 39.1%, sugar and sugar confectionery - by 37%, electric machines and equipment - by 29.3%, pharmaceutical products - by 19.7%, plastics and its products - by 13.7%.

At the same time, 4-fold increase was observed in the volume of imported vegetables, cement - 1.9 times, parts and accessories for cars and tractors - 1.8 times, fruits and nuts - 1.6 times, wheat flour - 1.6 times, ferrous metals - by 41.7%, rubber and its products - by 29.6%, tobacco products - by 29.4%, chemical fibers - by 25.5%, natural gas - by 18.3%, oil products - by 11.7%, meat and meat by 8.2%.

In January-February 2020, the volume of mutual trade of the republic with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) member states amounted to about $403 million, and increased by 9.5% compared to the same period last year.

Export supplies increased by 13.8 % and import revenues by 8.0 %.

The largest share of mutual trade of Kyrgyzstan with EAEU member states was accounted for by Russia 70.5 % and Kazakhstan 27.5 %.
