Kyrgyzstan’s GDP in January-May amounted to more than KGS 186B

Bishkek, June 11, 2020. /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan’s gross domestic product in January-May, according to preliminary estimates, amounted to more than KGS 186 billion. It decreased by 4.8% compared to last year, the press service of the National Statistic Committee reported.

Excluding the enterprises, developing the Kumtor field, the GDP amounted to about KGS 161 billion, and decreased by 6.4%.

The volume of industrial production is about KGS 124 billion. It has decreased by 0.2% compared to last year due to the reduction of refined oil products by 65.9%, wooden and paper products by 25.4%, rubber and plastic products, other non-metallic mineral products by 21.9%, textile production, clothing and footwear, leather and leather goods by 13.3%, as well as food products (including beverages) and tobacco products by 4.0%.

Negative trends were observed in construction, where the decline in volumes made 7.4 %, in wholesale and retail trade - 13.8 %, while in agriculture, on the contrary, there was an increase in volumes by 1.3 %.

In January-May (compared to December last year), consumer prices and tariffs in the country as a whole increased by 3.7%, which was due to the rise in prices for food products and soft drinks.

At the same time, prices of non-food products decreased by 0.7% in May this year compared to December.

The maximum increase in consumer prices and tariffs since the beginning of this year was recorded in Talas Oblast - 5.8%.

In January-April, the foreign trade turnover of the Kyrgyz Republic amounted to $1,753.9 million and decreased by 21.1% compared to the same period last year, while export supplies increased by 2.7% and import revenues, on the contrary, decreased by 31.4%.

The volume of mutual trade of the republic with the EAEU (Eurasian Economic Union) member-states in January-April made up $764.5 million, and decreased by 8.1% compared to last year.

At the same time, export supplies decreased by 17.4 % and import revenues by 5.2 %. Russia accounted for 69.7 % and Kazakhstan for 28.5 % of the country's mutual trade with the EAEU member states.
