Kyrgyzstan’s GDP increase by 6.2% since beginning of year

Bishkek, Sept. 11, 2019. / Kabar /. Gross domestic product (GDP) in Kyrgyzstan in January-August 2019, according to preliminary estimates, amounted to more than KGS 334 billion, head of the department of the National Statistics Committee Chinara Turdubaeva told during the press conference at Kabar News Agency.

According to her data, compared with the same period last year GDP increased by 6.2%. Excluding enterprises developing the Kumtor field, the volume of GDP in January-August 2019 amounted to more than KGS 298 billion and increased by 3.0%.

“The volume of industrial production amounted to more than KGS 169 billion and compared with the same period last year increased by 17% due to an increase in the production of basic metals (by 42.7%), in textile production (by 36.1%), and mining of metal ores ( by 27.6%), crude oil and natural gas (by 15.6%), chemical products (by 11.2%), and also due to coal mining by 6.2%,” said Turdubaeva.

She noted that positive trends were recorded in agriculture, where volume growth amounted to 1.6%, in construction - 7.8%, wholesale and retail trade - 4.9%.
