According to preliminary estimates, Kyrgyzstan’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in January 2020 amounted to KGS 31 billion 78.1 million, and increased by 1.8% compared to the same period last year, Chinara Turdubayeva, Head of the Statistics Information Dissemination Department of the National Statistics Committee said during the press conference in Bishkek.
According to her data, excluding enterprises developing the Kumtor field, the GDP of the republic amounted to about KGS 27 billion 878.8, and increased by 2.5%.
Turdubayeva noted the GDP growth is ensured by all sectors of the economy: the growth in industry is 0.8%, in construction-1.1%, in agriculture -1.4% and 6.4% in services.
Thus, the growth of industrial production in January 2020 was determined by the increase in textile production, clothing, leather goods, footwear (by 1.9 times), crude oil and natural gas (by 38.1%), rubber and plastic goods production, metal ores, wood processing and wood products production, as well as foodstuffs production.
At the same time, there is a decline in the production of oil products, drinks, coal and other non-metallic mineral products, as well as the production of base metals.
The growth of gross output of agricultural products in comparison to January 2019 is due to the increase in livestock production (by 1.6%).
The increase in the turnover of wholesale and retail trade, car and motorcycle repairs as compared with January 2019 was mainly due to the growth of wholesale (by 5.4%) and retail (by 2.4%) trade volumes.
