Bishkek, Apr. 29, 2020. /Kabar/. One of the main causes of medics’ contamination by COVID-19 coronavirus infection in Kyrgyzstan is the lack of readiness on doctors for the new virus, Chief Visiting Pulmonologist of Kyrgyzstan’s Health Ministry Talant Sooronbayev told Wednesday.
According to him, coronavirus is a new type of disease that is transmitted through contact.
"We certainly know it is transmitted from person to person. The elements are not clear," he said.
Sooronbayev explained that high contact is also one of the causes of infection among medics.
He said that doctors were working in risk areas and were in constant contact with patients or potential patients.
"So, as mentioned, the doctors’ readiness. They were all provided for. But then again, this is a first experience. Also significant were working with patient infected and organizing the assistance. I would like to say one thing - we work with doctors, we know the situation. By the time the first patients arrived, our doctors were provided with personal protective equipment," Sooronbayev explained.
In addition, he stated the problem with medics’ contamination was in the beginning, but no longer exists today.
"Over the past few weeks, we can see a marked decline in the disease among doctors and medics," he added.
As of Apr. 29, Kyrgyzstan reported 21 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number to 729, including 191 cases among medical workers.
A total of 437 citizens have been cured of COVID-19 all over the country.
Currently, 281 patients are in hospitals with coronavirus infection.
10 patients are in serious condition in hospitals, 4 of them are in intensive care.
8 people have died.
