Bishkek, July 27, 2020. /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan’s Ministry of Health has revised standard operating procedures for the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), Head of the Public Health Department of the Health Ministry Ainura Akmatova told a daily news briefing Monday.
The decision was based on appeals from medical workers and the WHO recommendations.
"This issue has also been raised several times over the past week by volunteers, who help medical workers and are in constant contact with them. In accordance with this, levels of protection of medical personnel have been determined depending on the level of coronavirus infection," the representative added.
The first is the low risk level of infection in health care organizations, where patients without symptoms of respiratory viral infection are admitted. In these cases, both doctors and patients should use disposable medical masks.
The second level is the medium risk of infection, where patients with coronavirus symptoms are treated directly - coughing, breathing, sore throat, high body temperature. Physicians should use respirators, goggles or face shield, a disposable medical gown or protective suit, a cap, gloves, removable closed shoes that should not deteriorate when disinfected.
The third is a high risk level where doctors work directly with COVID-19 patients. Physicians working in observatories, hospitals, mobile teams, ambulance crews should use special respirators, protective suits or disposable long-sleeved coats, gloves, protective goggles, face shield, closed replacement shoes and wear over the shoe.
