Bishkek, Jan.22, 2020. /Kabar/. As part of the visit to Turkey’s Karaman city, Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to Turkey Kubanychbek Omuraliyev met with Governor of Karaman Province Fakhri Meral and Mayor of Karaman city Savash Kalaidzhy, the press service of the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry reported.
Chairman of the Jogorku Kenesh (Kyrgyz Parliament) Committee on Budget and Finance Emil Toktoshev and Governor of Chui Oblast Altynbek Namazaliyev also took part in the meeting.
During the meeting, the sides noted the need to expand trade, economic and investment cooperation between the two brotherly countries.
The Kyrgyz delegation expressed hope for the support of Governor Meral in further implementation of the memorandums and agreements following the visit, as well as assistance in the stay of Kyrgyz citizens studying and working in Karaman Province, which is a kind of bridge between Kyrgyzstan and Karaman.
Governor Meral assured in his support of cooperation between friendly countries and assistance to the citizens of Kyrgyzstan.
At the meeting with Karaman city Mayor Kalaidzhy, within the framework of development of the regions of Kyrgyzstan, the Kyrgyz side noted the need to establish twin-sister relations between one of the cities of Chui Oblast and Karaman, and provide assistance to Kyrgyz citizens staying in Karaman.
In order to perpetuate Kyrgyz hero Manas and great writer Chyngyz Aitmatov, the Karaman city mayor assured about assigns names of Manas and Chyngyz Aitmatov to parks in Karaman, and invited the Kyrgyz side to participate in the annual International Festival of Turkish Language to be held in August this year.
As a result of these meetings, Governors Altynbek Namazaliyev and Fakhri Meral signed a Protocol of Intent on cooperation between Chui Oblast of Kyrgyzstan and Karaman Province of Turkey, and agreed to establish twin-sister relations between Kaindy and Karaman.
Karaman Province is a province of south-central Turkey. It has an area of 9,163 km2. The capital is the city of Karaman.
The economy of Karaman is dominated by agriculture, confectionery, flour milling, dairy, textile production, etc., and there is an organized industrial zone (a second one is under construction). Karaman is the capital of the Turkish language.
