Kyrgyzstan's Naryn Oblast hit by 2 earthquakes in 2 days

Bishkek, Nov. 30, 2020. /Kabar/. A 4-magnitude was recorded in Naryn Oblast of Kyrgyzstan on Sunday at 11:47 p.m.

According to the Institute of Seismology of the Kyrgyz National Academy of Sciences, the 2.5 - 4-magnitude tremors of the quake were felt in number of villages.

Another quake with a magnitude 3 (aftershock) occurred on Monday at 2:18 a.m.

The tremors were felt in the villages of Tuz, Cholpon, Kok-Zhar, Kochkor.

According to preliminary data, no casualties or destruction were reported.

An aftershock is a smaller earthquake that follows a larger earthquake, in the same area of the main shock, caused as the displaced crust adjusts to the effects of the main shock. Large earthquakes can have hundreds to thousands of instrumentally detectable aftershocks, which steadily decrease in magnitude and frequency according to known laws.
