Bishkek, Aug.29, 2019. /Kabar/. “We are against increase in electricity tariffs,” Chairman of the Board of the National Energy Holding Company OJSC Aitmamat Nazarov said during the press conference at Kabar News Agency.

He said the company is not engaged in the consideration and approval of electricity tariffs, but they are consulted. “We are against the increases. This is our position. We want to solve the problem of the energy sector by optimizing the Holding's expenses, reducing staff and implementing centralized tenders.

Since the beginning of the year, the National Energy Holding has optimized the costs by KGS 2 billion. As part of the strategy for the development of the sector, it is planned to strengthen the participation of the Holding in the management of distribution companies, we believe there is need to do so in order to improve efficiency and transparency,” said Nazarov.

He also noted at this time, due to the low water season in the Toktogul Reservoir, talks with neighboring countries are underway to supply electricity of the Kyrgyz Republic. “I cannot announce the planned prices because it is a commercial secret. But I can assure you that the tariffs that are offered are optimal,” the chairman said.
