Bishkek, July 23, 2021. / Kabar /. The 32nd Summer Olympic Games started today in Tokyo, the capital of Japan.
The grand opening of the games took place without spectators. This is due to security measures because of the global COVID-19 pandemic. Earlier, the Organising Committee reported that in addition to parading athletes, about 950 people will be at the stadium.
Kyrgyzstan's sports delegation has already walked in the athletes' parade. Athletes Denis Petrashov (swimming) and Kanykei Kubanychbekova (shooting) served as bearers of the flag of the republic.
A total of 16 athletes in seven sports will represent Kyrgyzstan at the Olympics in Tokyo.
According to experts' forecasts, Kyrgyzstan may win the first Olympic gold medal at these games. Men's and women's wrestlers are Kyrgyzstan's main favourites. In total, analysts predict that athletes from Kyrgyzstan will be able to get up to 4 medals of different categories.
The Tokyo Olympics was to be held from July 24 to Aug. 9, 2020. But due to the pandemic, the Olympics was postponed to this year.
Competitions will be held from July 23 to Aug. 8. It was decided to hold the games without the participation of foreign and local fans.
