Kyrgyzstan’s new draft Constitution: Head of presidential administration to lead government

Bishkek, Jan. 26, 2021. /Kabar/. Under the draft of the new Constitution, head of the administration of president of Kyrgyzstan will lead the government, Chairman of the Constitutional Counsel (CC) Bekbosun Borubashev said at a meeting of the CC.

He said the issue of what will be the executive power, which bodies it will include, has become the most debated.

Thus, according to the chairman of the Constitutional Counsel, it is proposed to establish a cabinet of ministers, which will be headed by a chairman. Head of the presidential administration would be the head of the cabinet.

"There are two reasons for this. First, we are moving towards a presidential form of government. Secondly, practice has shown that a lot of issues are addressed in the presidential administration, while the responsibility lies with the government. We discussed and decided to introduce such an option," he said.
