Bishkek, Feb.12, 2020 /Kabar/. Telephone conversation between Ombudsman of Kyrgyzstan Tokon Mamytov and Human Rights Commissioner of Kazakhstan Elvira Azimova took place on Wednesday, the press service of the Kyrgyz Ombudsman reported.
During the conversation, the sides discussed events, occurred in the Masanchi village, which later grew into a conflict with human casualties in a number of villages in the Korday District of Jambyl Region.
In particular, issues related to stay in Kyrgyzstan and the subsequent return of Kazakh citizens to their homeland were considered.
Ombudsman Mamytov said Kazakh citizens are currently accommodated in the families of residents of Tokmok town and other settlements in Ysyk-Ata region.
The arriving Kazakh citizens were provided with timely humanitarian and necessary medical assistance.
"In addition, the staff of the Ombudsman's Office in Chui Oblast continue to monitor the ongoing processes. Representatives of the offices of the Ombudsmen of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan are working together on this issue.
Thanks to the timely declaration of a state of emergency in Korday District and control by the Kazakh authorities, the situation has normalized and is under constant control of the relevant bodies and structures, some citizens of Kazakhstan are already returning to their homeland," said Tokon Mamytov.
Besides, the Kyrgyz Ombudsman informed Elvira Azimova about the extraordinary session of the People’s Assembly of Kyrgyzstan, during which the issues of further rendering of humanitarian aid to the suffered citizens of Kazakhstan, being now in Kyrgyzstan, were discussed.
In turn, Kazakhstan’s Human Rights Commissioner Azimova noted the coherence in activities of all state bodies of the two republics, and expressed gratitude to the citizens and authorities of Kyrgyzstan, providing assistance and support to Kazakhstanis.
Ten people died and hundreds were injured as a result of an interethnic conflict between Dungans, a group of ethnic Chinese professing Islam and Kazakhs in two villages in southern Kazakhstan, New Europe reported.
As a result of the mass brawl, several dozen private houses, retail outlets, and cars were damaged and burned. According to the latest data, 50 people were hospitalised in clinics.
On Feb.7, 2020, on the outskirts of the village Masanchi (95% of inhabitants are Dyngans nationality), in the Kordai District, Zhambyl region in southern Kazakhstan near Kyrgyzstan border, a fight took place between residents. It is assessed that several dozen people took part.
