Bishkek, April 19, 2021 . / Kabar / . According to estimates, at the beginning of 2021, the permanent population of Kyrgyzstan made 6 million 637 thousand people, the National Statistics Committee of the republic reported Monday.
One-third of the permanent population, 34%, lived in urban settlements and two-thirds, 66%, in rural areas.
More than a third (35%) of the total population were children and adolescents, 57 % - working age and 8 % made above working age.
Over 100 ethnic groups live in the country, the largest (according to estimates at the beginning of 2021) being Kyrgyz with 4,896,000 people (73.8% of the total population), Uzbeks with 985,000 people (14.9%) and Russians with 341,000 people (5.2%).
