The Obuz-Lesnovsky training ground of the Belarusian Armed Forces hosted the opening ceremony of the Search 2019 (Poisk) special exercise with the intelligence forces of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) member-states, the press service of the Kyrgyz Armed Forces’ General Staff reported.
Servicemen from Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and the CSTO Joint Staff Force take part in the military manoeuvres. In total, about 2,000 military personnel and over 250 units of equipment, including aviation equipment, are involved.
The Search 2019 exercise is held on Oct. 14-18 in two stages on the territory of four training grounds, as well as in the areas near them.
During the exercise, it is planned to practice the training and use of intelligence forces and means in a joint operation of the CSTO Collective Rapid Reaction Force (CRRF), practical actions of intelligence forces and means in the interests of localizing the cross-border armed conflict in the CSTO East European region of collective security.
The main objectives of the exercise are to work out the issues of harmonization of the CSTO's intelligence agencies, and to improve their interoperability in the performance of tasks, related to the mission of collective security in the Eastern European region.
