Kyrgyzstan's unemployment rate makes 2.9% at beginning of 2022

Bishkek, Feb. 11, 2022 . / Kabar / . In 2021, the number of citizens with the official status of the unemployed decreased by 0.9% to 76 thousand people. This became know during a meeting of the Ministry of Labor, Social Welfare and Migration at the end of 2021.

The number of unemployed people, registered in the employment services, increased by 0.6 % and reached 99.3 thousand people. In order to reduce the level of unemployment in Bishkek, Osh, Naryn and Karakol towns vocational guidance centers were opened, providing advice to young people on the choice of professions in demand in the labor market.

The Labor Ministry reported that the number of employed citizens also increased (from 15.2 thousand to 15.6 thousand people).

In general, at the beginning of 2022, the unemployment rate was 2.9% of the economically active population of 2 million 595.4 thousand people. The unemployment rate decreased by 0.1% in comparison with 2020.

The highest level of official unemployment is recorded in Batken Oblast - 5.5% and in Jalal-Abad Oblast - 5.0%.

The lowest level is registered in Bishkek city - 1.2% and Chui Oblast - 1.5%.

In addition, the Labor Ministry introduces digital technologies to promote employment of the population. The portal is integrated with the automated information search system “Work without borders" of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) member-states.
