Labour Ministry: The highest unemployment rate reported in Dzhalal-Abad Oblast

Bishkek, Jan. 19, 2021. /Kabar/. The highest unemployment rate, 5.9%, is registered in Dzhalal-Abad Oblast of Kyrgyzstan, Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Development Samagan Asanov said at a briefing on Tuesday,

According to him, as of Jan. 1, 2021 an official unemployment rate in the republic is 3%. The highest rate of unemployment is registered in Dzhalal-Abad Oblast (5.9%) and Batken Oblast (5.2%), and the lowest - in Chui Oblast (1.3%) and Bishkek (1.2%).

In 2020, 130,800 people applied to the Employment Center. As of Jan. 1, 2021, a total of 98 thousand 700 people are registered as unemployed. Due to this situation, the number of unemployed increased by 4% compared to last year’s figures.

"Last year, in connection with the pandemic the Ministry of Labour carried out a number of measures aimed at reducing tension in the labor market and providing citizens with employment," Asanov said.
