Osh, Feb. 4, 2021. /Kabar/. In 2020, 10 villages of Batken Oblast of Kyrgyzstan were provided with clean drinking water through investment, the oblast state administration said on Thursday.
According to the information, Ak-Tatyr, Toktogul-Oluya, Leskhoz, Sur, Kuduk, Kyrgyz-Kyshtak, Markaz, Bak, Ak-Bulak and Alga villages were provided with drinking water.
KGS 22 million 197 thousand were spent to provide water to the local population of these villages, most of which were investments from international organizations and funds, contributions were also made by local population and local budget.
Batken Oblast is the most remote oblast of Kyrgyzstan, which also has the most limited resources due to the peculiarities of its geographical location.
The total area of the oblast is 17 thousand square kilometres, or 8.5% of the territory of the republic.
As of Nov. 1, 2020 the population of Batken Oblast is 546 thousand 400 people.
