Lavrov holds phone talks with Kyrgyz and Tajik FMs

Bishkek, May 1, 2021. / Kabar /. At the initiative of the Russian side, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov held telephone conversations with Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Ruslan Kazakbaev and Tajikistan Sirodjiddin Mukhriddin, during which the situation that developed as a result of armed clashes on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border was considered.

According to the press service of the Russian Embassy in Bishkek, Lavrov said that Russia welcomes the agreements reached by the parties - in accordance with the instructions of the heads of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan - to resolve the conflict exclusively by political and diplomatic means. He expressed the hope that Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan will unswervingly follow their commitments in the interests of fully normalizing the situation and restoring an atmosphere of trust and good-neighborliness between the two fraternal peoples.

Russia is ready to continue to provide all necessary assistance to this process in accordance with the principles of strategic partnership and alliance with Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
